Johnson, Martin W.

Johnson, Martin W. (Wiggo)

(1893–1984) oceanographer; born in Chandler, S.D. He was an associate of the University of Washington (1933–34) before joining the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (1934–61). He made major contributions to biological and military science by investigating invertebrate-produced underwater sounds and acoustic signal reflections.
