[′kär·nȯ ‚map]
(electronics)
A truth table that has been rearranged to show a geometrical pattern of functional relationships for gating configurations; with this map, essential gating requirements can be recognized in their simplest form.

This heuristic technique works exploring the search space where we can also find circuits obtained through classical design techniques (Karnaugh Map [15], Quine-McCluskey Algorithm and Boolean algebra), but also explore regions of space where there are unconventional circuits, which may be more suitable for some cases.
An excitation table for the D flip-flop is simplified and minimized by Karnaugh Map.
The code sequence is then simplified and minimized by Karnaugh Map.
It is clear that n-input Karnaugh map uses n variables to reserve memory storage and represents all the [2.sup.n] possible combinations.
The analogy between EKMR(3) and Karnaugh map with three- input is as follows[Fig.
The three most popular are minimisation techniques are: algebraic method, Karnaugh map [5] and Quine-McCluskey procedure [3].
It's designed as a textbook, so college-level students and practicing engineers will find it most handy--but it covers all the basics, from Boolean algebra and logic gates to Karnaugh maps. An accompanying cd-rom includes simulations and third-party software, making this highly recommended for any in-depth, practicing engineer or student.
Standard graphical design aids such as Karnaugh Maps [6] are widely used and tools suitable for computer implementation have evolved from the Quine--McCluskey method to freely available tools and commercial products.
6), the MGA, the NGA and two human designers (the first, using Karnaugh Maps and the second using the Quine-McCluskey Procedure) are shown in Table II.
