a city (since 1938) under oblast jurisdiction in Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Railroad station on the Krinichnaia-Ilovaisk line. Population, 60,000 (1977). Khartsyzsk has plants for the manufacture of pipes, steel wire and cable, machinery, and metal products, as well as a foundry for the production of fittings. It also has a bread-baking combine and a plant for the production of food concentrates. The city has a metallurgical technicum.
