Kingdom Come State Park
Location:65 miles northeast of Middlesboro. From I-75, take US 25E to US 119 to Cumberland.
Facilities:Picnic areas, 2 picnic shelters with vending machines and restrooms,
pedal boat rentals, hiking trails (14 miles), 9-hole miniature golf
course, playgrounds, 2 basketball courts, rental equipment for
horseshoes and volleyball, cave amphitheater, nature preserve, gift
shop. Lodging is available at the Benham Schoolhouse Inn Bed and
Breakfast in Benham, Ky, and a campground is available nearby in Lynch,
KY. Primitive camping is permitted in designated areas of the park not
on park trails.

Special Features:On the crest of Pine Mountain, at an elevation of 2,700 feet, Kingdom
Come is Kentucky's highest state park. A unique feature of the park is
its extraordinary rock formations, including Log Rock, a natural
sandstone bridge, and Raven Rock, a gigantic slab of stone jutting some
290 feet into the air at a 45-degree angle. The park is named for John
Fox, Jr's novel <i>The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come</i>,
a book about an orphaned youth and his journey through the hills and
into the furor of the Civil War.
