It may be recalled that the consulate was in the news recently when
Krittika Biswas, the 18-year-old daughter of Debashish Biswas, a vice consul, filed a suit against the New York City government, claiming $1.5 million for being ill treated in jail and wrongfully accused of sending obscene e-mails and not being given the diplomatic status she deserved.
Speaking in an interview to ANI about the
Krittika Biswas case, Krishna said: "I expect the US to follow international norms and well accepted practices and conventions" in dealing with the issue.
"We faced aggressive competition in the form of free of cost proposals offered by our peers," noted
Krittika Mahattanakul, Head of Asia North, Nokia Siemens Networks.

The development surrounding Devyani brought back memories of
Krittika Biswas, the daughter of an Indian diplomat posted at the Indian Consulate in New York, who was arrested in her school, handcuffed and forced to spend 28 hours in a detention cell for cyber bullying in February 2011.
