a locality in the Chulyshman River valley in the Altai Mountains, where, in 1924–25, the Soviet archaeologist S. I. Rudenko investigated a burial ground of Altai Turks dating from the sixth to eighth centuries. Graves of warriors, buried with their horses, were discovered. The most interesting finds were a bone facing of a saddlebow pommel with an engraved hunting scene and a boulder depicting scenes from local mythology. The differences in wealth among the graves are indicative of property stratification. Also excavated was the burial of a 13th- or 14th-century warrior, in which a Chinese mirror, scraps of silk, and a horse harness were found.
