Kuršenai

 

a city (from 1581) in šiauliai Raion, Lithuanian SSR. It is situated on the Venta River. It has the Pavenčiai railroad station on the šiauliai-Kretinga line. Population, 11,000 (1970). Kuršenai has the Pavenčiai sugar refinery, a construction-materials combine, a machine-repair shop, a butter and cheese factory, and a logging and timber distribution establishment.
