Kuragino

 

an urban-type settlement, the administrative center of Kuragino Raion, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR; situated in the Minusinsk Basin. A landing on the right bank of the Tuba River (tributary of the Enisei) and a railroad station, 94 km east of Abakan. Population, 12,000 (1970). Kuragino has a stonecrushing plant, a creamery, a hemp factory, and a logging and timber distribution establishment. Iron ore and gold are mined in the raion.
