Kuroshio Countercurrent
[‚ku̇·rə′shē·ō ′kau̇nt·ər‚kə·rənt] (oceanography)
A component of the Kuroshio system flowing south and southwest between latitudes 155° and 160°E about 44 miles (70 kilometers) from the coast of Japan on the right-hand side of the Kuroshio Current.
