Kutta condition

Kutta condition
A characteristic of fluid flow in which the flows from the upper and the lower portions of an airfoil rejoin at the trailing edge with no sudden change in direction. The viscosity of airflow causes this asymmetrical airflow and is responsible for the production of lift.

From the aerodynamics point of view, the flexible flaps increase the camber of the airfoil thus modifying the Kutta condition for the flow and the circulation of the airfoil.
Young, that there exists a region of the parameters of the flapping wing motion (reduced frequency and amplitude) where the Kutta condition is valid (Young 2005).
