Advances in liquid crystal display (LCD) technology have made it ''a real possibility'' to eliminate cathode-ray tubes (CRT) from all television sets, Sharp Corp.

Sony said it aims to strengthen its small and midsize LCD display business by obtaining technologies and production capacity for amorphous silicon thin film transistor LCDs from Seiko Epson's LCD unit, Epson Imaging Devices Corp.
