LEED-EB

LEED for Existing Buildings. One of the six LEED Green Building Rating Systems. It establishes a set of performance standards for the sustainable upgrades and operation of existing buildings.

The original LEED-EB standards were mostly based on installed equipment and the availability of public transportation.
Although it is common industry practice in first-level energy assessments to use average utility rates when estimating savings, LEED-EB recognizes that identifying the actual incremental rates is very important in providing a realistic projection of cost savings from energy efficiency measures.
The company claimed that its corporate headquarters is one of only 38 buildings in the US to achieve Platinum LEED-EB certification, which is the highest sustainability recognition an existing building can attain.

MMPI plans on implementing a variety of policies and strategies to achieve the LEED-EB certification, such as: an improved recycling program, including adding batteries, light bulbs and construction waste to the existing program; a green purchasing policy for products with recycled content and those that mitigate poor indoor air quality; a green cleaning policy requiring that all cleaning products meet high indoor air quality standards; end a green site maintenance plan.

Each LEED-EB certification is valid for five years, so there could be a new LEED revision out by the time you start looking at certification again.

After months of hard work and dedication, the Solar Innovations LEED team was granted 62 points towards the LEED-EB:OM v2009 Certification allowing it to receive the gold status.
