LGA 1366

(Land Grid Array 1366) A motherboard receptacle with 1,366 contacts that is used for Intel Core i7 CPUs. Also called "Socket B." See LGA.

There are two Socket B (LGA 1366) sockets for the CPUs, and two Enterprise Voltage Regulator-Down (EVRD) regulators, which supply both the processor core voltage and L2 cache voltage.
In 2011, Intel released the Core i7-980 and i7-970, which offered six-core processors in the LGA 1366 form factor and were drop-in compatible with its original LGA1366 chipset, but only the Core i7-980 was less than $800, and it ran $583 at launch.
The ASUS X79 motherboards sporting the LGA 2011 sockets will replace the older generation of X58 chipset based boards sporting the LGA 1366 sockets.
