lofar

[′lō‚fär]
(navigation)
A submarine detection system using autocorrelation techniques for long-range analysis of patterned sound picked up at the low-frequency end of the sound spectrum by underwater hydrophones of the Caesar submarine detection system. Derived from low-frequency acquisition and ranging.

The map created by the LOFAR observations, part of which was published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics, contains data equivalent to ten million DVDs yet charts just two percent of the sky.
"The real hope of LOFAR is it will look at the first galaxies being formed and see how that happened.
Caption: Scientists at the Netherlands' LOFAR observatory have developed a technique using cosmic rays that may help expose the conditions inside thunderclouds that lead to lightning strikes.
Dr O'Brien said: "Jodrell Bank is at the very centre of UK astronomy and it is obviously a likely location for the Lofar programme.
The sonar provides continuous-wave (CW) and frequency-modulation (FM), passive operation with broadband and narrowband processing (LOFAR and DEMON), simultaneous active and passive processing, and various transmission modes (omnidirectional, triple rotational, sector) with selected pulses for submarine detection and detection of small moving and non-moving objects for protection against torpedoes and mines.
Summary: TEHRAN (FNA)- Scientists have used the LOFAR radio telescope to study the development of lightning flashes in unprecedented detail.
Boasting a whopping 144Hz refresh rate, the display comes with a 120W speaker system equipped with LOFAR (Low Frequency Array), VRT (Vibration Reduction Technology), and a three-way stereo crossover system.
The soundbar comes with a three way stereo crossover system, Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) technology and Vibration Reduction Technology (VRT), which are said to negate the need for a dedicated subwoofer.
proposed a method of multilayer perceptual neural network detection with low false alarm rate and applied this method to the passive sonar detection [3]; Weber and Kruger studied the passive sonar lofar grams contour-enhancing technique and contrast enhancement technique based on neural network, which greatly improved the signal-to-noise ratio of the image and detected the target signal with signal-to-noise ratio of -17 dB with very accurate precision [4]; Howell and Wood proposed a passive sonar detection and recognition system based on hybrid neural networks [5]; Postolache et al.
