Location:In the Red River floodplain in east-central Louisiana, 18 miles north of Marksville.
Facilities:Visitor contact station, viewing sites, boat launch, trails.
Activities:Boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, educational programs.
Special Features:Lake Ophelia is a 350-acre, cypress-lined lake that was once a channel of the Red River. The lake is a renowned warmwater fishery.
Habitats: 18,000 acres of hardwood forest, cropland, wetlands, lakes and bayous.
Access: Open during daylight hours; the lake is open for fishing from March to mid-October.
Wild life: Wading birds, ducks, bobcats, alligators, and foxes.
