Lake Shetek State Park
Location:North of Currie via County Road 38.
Facilities:97 drive-in campsites (66 with electrical hookups), showers (é),
flush toilets (é), 10 walk-in campsites, 2 group camps, group center,
camper cabin, picnic area (é), picnic shelters (é), volleyball
court, playground (é), horseshoe pits, hiking trails (14 miles),
self-guided trail (1 mile), wheelchair-accessible trails (7.5 miles),
paved bike trail (6 miles), ski trails (3 miles), snowmobile trails (5
miles), warming house, swimming beach, boat launch, boat and canoe
rentals, historic site, interpretive exhibits, visitor center (é),
gift shop.

Special Features:Park contains the largest lake in southwestern Minnesota, which forms
the headwaters of the Des Moines River. "Shetek" is an Ojibwe word
meaning "pelican," a bird that visits Lake Shetek during the summer and
fall. Loon Island, a 45-acre bird sanctuary, is accessible on foot via
a causeway and includes an interpretive trail.
