Lassaw, Ibram
Lassaw, Ibram
(1913– ) sculptor; born in Alexandria, Egypt. Born of Russian parents, he emigrated to New York City (1921) and was a founder (1936) and president (1946–49) of the American Abstract Artists group. He lived in East Hampton, N.Y. He specialized in architectural sculpture and abstract welded wire works, as in Galactic Cluster #1 (1958).
