Little Rock

 

a city in the southern USA; capital of Arkansas. Port on the Arkansas River. Population, 132,500 (1970); 323,300 including the suburbs. Little Rock is a center of bauxite mining. Chemical, woodworking, cellulose and paper, cotton-ginning, and electrical engineering industries are found there. Aluminum and alumina plants are located in a suburb.
