Loiret

a department in France, in the basin of the upper Loire. Area, 6,800 sq km; population, 459,000 (1972). The prefecture is Orléans. Loiret is a major agricultural region, where grain and industrial crops are cultivated and meat and dairy cattle are raised. There is fruit growing and flower cultivation. Loiret has machine-building, wool, clothing, chemical, and food industries.

17 February 2010 - S&P on Tuesday affirmed and subsequently pulled out its AA+ long-term issuer credit rating with a "stable" outlook on the French Department of Loiret.

These strengths were balanced against Loiret's decreasing revenue flexibility, new social-care responsibilities, and a moderate increase in debt ratios at year-end 2009 to 45% of operating revenues.
