Lozovaia

 

a city in Kharkov Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. A major railroad junction for lines to Kharkov, Poltava, Slaviansk, and Sinel’nikovo, 148 km south of Kharkov. Population, 38,800 (1972).

Lozovaia has railroad transport enterprises and is the site of a mechanized forge, the Traktorodetal’ Plant, a machine-building plant, an automobile-repair shop, a plant producing reinforced-concrete items, a limestone-brickyard, a bone-meal plant, a cheese dairy, a meat-packing plant, and a garment factory. The city was founded in the second half of the 19th century.
