Ludwig, Daniel K.

Ludwig, Daniel K. (Keith)

(1897–1992) shipper, financier, entrepreneur; born in South Haven, Mich. At age 19 he entered the freight business. His company, National Bulk Carriers (New York City) (founded 1936), became the country's largest shipping corporation and a major oil transporter. He fostered the development of modern supertankers in the 1950s. His diversified international business interests made him one of the world's richest individuals.
