MASINT Measurements and signature intelligence is "technically derived intelligence that detects, locates, tracks, identifies, and describes the unique characteristics of fixed and moving targets" (Lefebvre, 2004, p.259) MEDINT Medical intelligence results "from the collection, evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of foreign medical, bio-scientific, and environmental information which is of interest to strategic planning and to military medical planning and operations for the conservation of the fighting force and formation of assessments of foreign medical capabilities in both military and civilian sectors" (Kaufman, 2001, p.1).
Educational programmes for medical interpretation in Japan are usually offered for Japanese-English interpreters as well as for Japanese- Chinese, -Portuguese, -Spanish, and -Korean interpreters (Centre for Multicultural Society Kyoto, 2011; MEDINT, 2011; Multi-language Information Centre Kanagawa, 2011).
