Initially, we had problems with reliability, which were traced to
MacTCP, the Macintosh implementation of the TCP/IP network protocol.
MACTCP: Macintosh's version of the Transmission Control Protocol, backbone of the Internet.
At last the company informed me that before I could get access to the Web I would need three more applications: MacTCP, InterSLIP and Netscape Navigator or another Web browser).
In exasperation, I bought "The Internet Starter Kit" which includes a disk containing InterSLIP and MacTCP.
Book includes a diskette providing
MacTCP, InterSLIP, Eudora, and other Macintosh applications that greatly increase users' enjoyment and efficiency in working on the Net.
On the Macintosh platform the standard interface is provided through
MacTCP, while on Windows machines the standard interface is known as Windows Sockets (WINSOCK).
LAN WorkPlace for DOS and
MacTCP for Macintosh client software were then installed on respective network nodes.
