Malaspina

a piedmont glacier on the southern coast of Alaska, between Yakutat Bay and Icy Bay. Area, 2,200 sq km. The glacier is formed by several glacial streams descending from the St. Elias Mountains; it is fed by the Seward glacial basin, which is located at an elevation of 1,500-2,000 m. Since the 1930’s the glacier has been shrinking, receding from the ocean shore and leaving a bank of terminal moraine, which is gradually being grown over by coniferous forest.
