Matsumoto

 

a city in Japan, in central Honshu Island, in Nagano Prefecture. Population, 163,000 (1970). It is a distribution and industrial center in a silkworm-breeding region. Matsumoto’s industrial activities include nonferrous metallurgy and the production of silk, machinery, and chemicals.
