Location:Mazonia: In Grundy County, 3 miles southwest of Braidwood on IL 53 and Huston Road. Braidwood Lake: In Will County, off IL 53 south of Braidwood.
Facilities:Under development. Plans include a paved access road to the main lakes, boat launches, ramps, parking lots, and toilets.
Activities:Fishing, hunting, fossil collecting (permit required).
Special Features:Mazonia encompasses 200 water impoundments, ranging in size from 3/4 acre to 30 acres, which contain bass, crappie, channel cat, and other species. Lake Braidwood is much larger and is potentially dangerous when winds reach 25 mph or higher.
