Medical Assistance and Obstetrics Station

 

a medical facility offering initial (premedical) treatment in the rural health-care system. Each such station, as part of a rural medical district, operates under the supervision of the rural district hospital, providing treatment and preventive care and implementing public health and antiepidemic measures throughout a given area. The staff is headed by a feldsher and includes a midwife and an orderly. Medical assistance and obstetrics stations operate within the budget of their local rural soviet.
