Peppermint oil contains high concentrations of
menthone and pulegone that have natural pesticide characteristics.
must contain 1.0-5.0% limonene, 3.5-14.0% cineole, 14.0-32.0%
menthone,
The different types of chemical components of Buchu oil are -pulegone, iso-pulegone, diosphenol, 4-diosphenol, iso-menthone and
menthone. The oil from Buchu leaves is derived by distillation process from the dried leaves.

[13] The most important peppermint components are menthol,
menthone, neomenthol, methyl acetate, and 1,8 cineole.
Here, the quantification of compounds was performed using ion-selective monitoring to determine the specific parent ion of both pulegone (152.9 m/z [[M + H].sup.+]) and
menthone (155.0 m/z [[M + H].sup.+]).
The main components of the essential oil are menthol,
menthone, and menthyl acetate (18).
Rubinstein, "Inhibitory effect of cyclic terpenes (limonene, menthol,
menthone and thymol) on Fusarium verticillioides MRC 826 growth and fumonisin B1 biosynthesis," Toxicon, vol.
In the preliminary phytochemical analysis of the essential oil, there was the presence of the main constituents: the majority were menthol,
menthone, and menthofuran compounds which were responsible for pleasant odor [8-11].
The predominant constituents were
menthone (40.7-49.3%), followed by pulegone (31.3-36.5%), isomenthone (2.5-4.3%), 1,8-cineole (2.1-3.4%), borneol (2.3-2.7%), and E-caryophyllene (1.6-1.9%).
