Location:In Prince George's County; off US 301, follow signs east on Croom Road.
Facilities:Visitor center (é) with exhibits and children's Discovery Room; trails.
Activities:Bird watching, fishing, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding.
Special Features:Sanctuary is the wintering ground for thousands of Canada geese, who arrive in mid-October and stay until late February or early March. About 100 geese stay there year round. The sanctuary also offers habitat to other birds and wildlife. In the summer, ospreys nest near the Visitor Center, and hummingbirds, finches, and purple martins are abundant.
