Metanephridia

 

excretory organs in invertebrates (mainly annelids), paired metameric tubules of ectodermal origin that open at one end through a ciliated funnel into the coelomic sacs (the secondary body cavity) and at the other end to the exterior. Metanephridia developed evolutionarily from protonephridia.
