Midcourse Space Experiment

(MSX) A spacecraft launched by the US Ballistic Missile Defense Organization in April 1996, carrying a combination of astronomical instruments (including an ultraviolet spectroscope and an infrared telescope) and military equipment. It had a planned lifetime of 4 years.
