Cherepashinskii, Mikhail Mikhailovich

 

Born 1845; died Apr. 30,1916. Russian scientist; specialist in structural mechanics.

Cherepashinskii graduated from the University of Technology, Vienna, in 1873. He became a professor at the Moscow Higher Technical School in 1885 and an honored professor in 1907. His principal works dealt with design problems of engineering structures (in particular, he developed methods of calculating statically indeterminate systems), the history of structural mechanics, and bridge design. He was the inventor of an original slide rule.
