Milk Clarifier

The following article is from The Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1979). It might be outdated or ideologically biased.

Milk Clarifier

a filter to remove mechanical impurities from milk. Its main working part is the filter element, which consists of a replaceable flannel filter in a screen frame; it is mounted in the line that carries the milk from the milking area or is built into general-purpose milking machines. The milk passes through the filter element under pressure or is drawn by a vacuum. Mechanical impurities are held back by the filter. The clarifier can be removed easily for washing or to replace the flannel filter.
