Mintz, Beatrice

Mintz, Beatrice (Stein)

(1921–  ) embryologist; born in New York City. She taught at the University of Chicago (1946–60), then joined the Fox Chase Institute of Cancer Research in Philadelphia (1960). She made major advances in studies of experimental genetic control of skin pigment phenotypes in mouse embryo chimeras, and explored the implications of totipotency in mouse tumor cells.
