Moore, R. C.

Moore, R. C. (Raymond Cecil)

(1892–1974) paleontologist, geologist; born in Roslyn, Washington. This University of Chicago Ph.D. was a member of the U.S. Geological Survey (1913–49) and a Kansas state geologist (1916–54); he taught at the University of Kansas (1916–70). He published widely on petroleum, structural geology, stratigraphy, and invertebrate paleontology, but is best remembered for organizing and directing the 27-volume Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology (1948).
