Location:Northern Illinois, in Whiteside County, north of Morrison off IL 78.
Facilities:92 Class A campsites (with electricity), shower building with flush
toilets, equestrian camping area, picnic areas, shelters, 9 fishing
piers, boat ramp, dock, boat rental, concession, restaurant, hiking
trails (3.5 miles), equestrian trail (14 miles), ski trails (14 miles).
Activities:Camping, boating (10 HP limit), canoeing, fishing, hiking,
horseback riding, hunting, ice fishing, ice skating, cross-country
skiing, sledding, wildlife viewing, birdwatching.
Special Features:Park includes Lake Carlton, reputed to be one of the best fishing spots
in Illinois, and abundant wildlife, including deer, fox, coyote, and
muskrat, as well as more than 150 species of birds, including pheasant
and quail.
