Mount Washington State Forest

Location:In the extreme southwest corner of the state, in the southern Berkshires of western Massachusetts.
Facilities:Wilderness campsites, restrooms, picnic area, trails (30 miles), scenic viewing area.
Activities:Wilderness camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting (with restrictions), cross-country skiing.
Special Features:Situated on a mountain plateau, much of this forest was clear-cut between the late 1700s and mid-1800s to produce charcoal fuel for local iron forges. The red oak-northern hardwood forest has since regrown and offers 30 miles of trails over rugged terrain as well as wilderness camping.
