Néel Point

 

(also Néel temperature), the temperature T_N above which an antiferromagnetic substance (antiferromagnet) loses its specific magnetic properties and becomes a paramagnetic substance, or paramagnet (a second-order phase transition). Near T_N, anomalies of nonmagnetic properties of antiferromagnets, such as the specific heat, coefficient of thermal expansion, and temperature coefficient of the electrical conductivity, reach maximum values.
