Location:In western Illinois, in Hancock County, on the south edge of Nauvoo, along IL 96.
Facilities:150 Class A and B campsites, youth group camping area, 2 picnic and playground areas, 2 shelter houses (1 with modern toilet facilities), ball diamond, hiking trails (é), boat launch (primitive), nature preserve, museum.
Activities:Camping, boating (electric motors only), canoeing, fishing, picnicking, hiking, sledding, cross-country skiing.
Special Features:When Mormons (including LDS founder Joseph Smith) settled in the Hancock County community of Commerce City in 1839, they changed its name to "Nauvoo," a Hebrew word for "pleasant land." A house built by Mormons in the 1840s serves as the Nauvoo State Park Museum.
