Davkaraev, Nazhim

 

Born October 1905, in present-day Kungrad Raion, Kara-Kalpak ASSR; died July 20, 1953, in Nukus. Soviet Kara-Kalpak writer and literary scholar; Doctor of Philology. Became a member of the CPSU in 1942.

Davkaraev’s work began to be published in 1935. His main works are the novellas and short stories The Partisans (1934), In the Boarding School (1935). and Bibikhan (1936). He wrote the musical drama Alpamys (1940) on heroic epic subjects. He was also the author of Outline of the History of Prerevolutionary Kara-Kalpak Literature (published in 1959). He received the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
