Information solutions provider Novell Inc has upgraded its Novell
NetWare 5.1 and 6 solutions to include support for iSCSI.
The Novell Native File Access Pack for
NetWare 5.1 is now available through Novell authorized resellers and solution providers.
It is compatible with Novell
NetWare 5.1 and Windows NT/2000 and is planned to be included in the upcoming release of NetWare 6.
Also from Prosoft,
NetWare 5 Services and the NetWare Client 5.13 allow Mac users to be connected to the NetWare environment.
As part of CNN Interactive's "Web farm" infrastructure, NDS eDirectory will run on Novell's
NetWare 5 intelligent network server platform.
And now Novell certified as 'Yes, Tested and Approved' for
NetWare 5 and NDS 8.
At NetWorld+Interop yesterday, Novell Inc introduced its first clustering product for
NetWare 5. NetWare Cluster Services, which was endorsed by Compaq Computer Corp, Dell Computer Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co and IBM Corp at the launch, is primarily aimed at users needing high-availability, and Novell says its fast failover time is now measured in seconds rather than minutes, so that in most cases a failure will not be noticed by users.

NetWare 5.0 server, Novell NetWare 3.12 server, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 server, PC and Mac Platform Workstations.
The Novell Native File Access Pack for
NetWare 5.1 is available immediately, priced at USD299/server.
The updates offered by version 6 of the pack include
Netware 5.1 Support Pack 3, Novell Cluster Services 1.0 Support Pack 2, NetWare NFS 3.0 Support Pack 2 and GroupWise 5.5 Enhancement Pack Support Pack 2.
Enhancements in the new version include support for networks built on either
NetWare 5 or
NetWare 5.1, scalability from two to 32 Intel Architecture network servers or nodes to create a cluster and improved cluster management.
NetWare easily beat its target of 15% growth on the strength of
NetWare 5 sales - up 19% from the preceding quarter at $108m.
