Olekminsk

 

a city and administrative center of Olekminsk Raion, Yakut ASSR. Olekminsk is a landing on the left bank of the Lena River, 650 km southwest of Yakutsk. It has a logging and timber distribution establishment, as well as a museum of local lore. Olekminsk was founded in 1635 opposite the mouth of the Olekma River; it was later moved 12 km upstream on the Lena.
