A pebbled film surface, resembling an orange skin, on lacquer or enamel as a result of too rapid drying after spraying, or failure to exhibit the desired leveling effects.
(metallurgy)
A rough, pebble-grained metal surface resulting from either plastic deformation or electropolishing. Also known as alligator effect; pebbling.

Orange peel

In painting, a term applied to a pebble effect in sprayed coats of paint or lacquer similar to the peel of an orange; may be caused by too much pressure by holding the spraying device too close to the surface, or using a thinner which dries too quickly and prevents the flow of solids.

2. In ceramics, an irregular waviness of porcelain enamel surface; resembling an orange skin in texture; sometimes considered a surface defect.
