Organoelemental Compound

 

any of various compounds that contain a bond between carbon and another element, which generally is not nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, or any of the halogens (seeMETALLO-ORGANIC COMPOUNDS, ORGANOSILICON COMPOUNDS, and ORGANOPHOSPHORUS COMPOUNDS). The Russian term for “organoelemental compound,” elementoorganicheskoe soedinenie, was proposed by the academician A. N. Nesmeianov.
