Osogovska Planina

 

(Osogov Mountains), mountains in Bulgaria and Yugoslavia between the Struma and Vardar rivers. Composed mainly of crystalline rocks, they are 70 km long and reach a maximum elevation of 2,252 m (Rujen Peak). The relief is worn down, and the slopes are covered with pine and beech forests; meadows are found on the summits.
