Established: 1975. Description:Develops, protects, and promotes the 300-mile Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail (see separate listing in national trails section). This trail traces the route of patriots across the Appalachians to the Piedmont Region of the Carolinas where they defeated British troops at the Battle of Kings Mountain, setting in motion events that led to the British surrender at Yorktown and the end of the Revolutionary War. Sponsors annual reenactment and provides education on colonial life and the American Revolution. Members: 240. Dues: $30/year ($40/year for families; $500 lifetime membership).
