On the central western border of TX panhandle, southwest of Amarillo; organized Aug 21, 1876 from Bexar County. Name Origin: For Martin Parmer (1778-1850), Republic of TX legislator, signer of the TX Declaration of Independence (1836), and chief justice of Jasper County (1839-40)
