Parris, Alexander

Parris, Alexander

(1780–1852) builder-architect; born in Hebron, Maine. This Boston architect is known for his neoclassical designs and monumental masonry such as the governor's residence, Richmond, Va. (1812). He is also credited with a number of coastal engineering works.

American architect based in Boston; Neoclassical builder-architect, associated with Bullfinch and others. Designed the Governor’s Residence (1812), Richmond, VA; Charlestown Navy Yard and Harbor, (1829); and Quincy Market (1826), both in Boston, MA.
