Peloric Flower

The following article is from The Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1979). It might be outdated or ideologically biased.

Peloric Flower

a flower with a regular (actinomorphic) corolla on a plant whose other flowers all have an irregular (zygomorphic) corolla. A peloric flower develops at the top of the inflorescences of such plants as toadflax, snapdragon, and foxglove. The force of gravity on the corolla may cause such flowers to form owing to their position on the top, and not on the side, of the inflorescence.
