Perispirit

(religion, spiritualism, and occult)

Aterm for the spirit body, used by Allan Kardec. He defined “spirits” as “the intelligent beings of the creation. They constitute the population of the universe, in contradistinction to the forms of the material world.” Of the perispirit he said, “As the germ of a fruit is surrounded by the perisperm, so the spirit, properly so called, is surrounded by an envelope which by analogy may be designated as the perispirit.”
